Dark rings around the eyes,
And he silently sighs,
Frustration escaping from the tip of his tongue,
Another week has just begun,
You can tell that he’s a student waiting for direction,
Open the book to chapter three begin on the second section,
Just far enough into the year that there’s no end in sight,
But the summer has completely faded like the sun into the night,
Sleep is but a dream and dreams are nonexistent,
In a world where even your workload can be just too persistent,
Going on forever like a beautiful landscape except this one is stripped of its green,
The sand and the sky are all that remain to what now is quite a bland scene,
He puts on a smile so that if anyone looks,
He’s appears to be happy and immersed in his books,
He is really just counting each second that passes,
Through all of his days and all of his classes,
Until the moment he hears the final bell ring,
And he once again hears the summer birds sing.
