The Sun Beats Down

The sun beats down it burns through the leaves,
It burns through the clouds and it burns through the trees,
It heats up the ground sending squirrels to the shade,
And little birds into baths where they quietly wade,
It heats up the roads and the bright blue sky,
It heats up all the bugs as they silently fry,
It heats up the air and everything around,
It seems as though this is a deserted town,
It bronzes the skin of the women lying outside,
The brave and the few that didn’t try to hide,
It cleanses my soul from deep within,
By releasing sweat from holes in my skin,
It revitalizes my brain and heals my pain,
That’s why I smile while you all go insane.
